You get one life. Why not use it the best you possibly can? Try to become the best version of yourself you can possibly be. There’s a saying: hell is lying on your deathbed and meeting the person you could’ve been.
Heaven, then, in this life, must be being at peace with who you are and where you are at. Happiness then, lies not in getting what you want, but in wanting what you have, living in the absence of uncertainty, doubt, or regret.
Caring for and living fully in the present moment is how to best shape your future. We have a lot of time, we just waste most of it. What lies ahead will eventually pass and become memory: the stories we look back on and either regret or have peace with. Embrace and live life in the now.
From my understanding of Viktor Frankl, the three most meaningful parts of life will be: 1) Relationships. 2) Your work / what you build and 3) The inevitable suffering you experience. Every single person will lose people close to them. We must take care of and love one another. Living is hard.
I won’t write too much about 1 or 3 in this article, but I will say something on 2.
We must pursue it relentlessly. We cannot drift aimlessly. We need something to work toward. A goal. It could be a comedy career, a YouTube channel, a business, anything. But without that, we are lost, and suffer because of it. The part you will look back on is not standing on the peak, but the climb. Life is not the destination, but the journey. What matters is where you are going, what you’re aimed at, and how you get there.
It was once said: we live two lives, and the second begins the moment we realize we only get one.
And if there’s any privilege in this life, it’s becoming who you truly are.
December 1, 2025 Update – Gonna start reading a lot more Viktor Frankl and read his work. Learning about logotherapy interests me greatly.
